Genre: Young Adult, Romance Fiction

Now, this is a book that brings me right back to being 14 years old; does anyone else have a book that makes them feel like this? Let me know! I remember vividly this novel being the only thing everyone seemed to be talking about, and with the release of the film in 2014, 'The Fault in Our Stars' became even more of a sensation. John Green wrote some very good reads throughout my teens, such as ‘Looking for Alaska’ and ‘Paper Towns’, but ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ was always my favourite, I even had a post up in my room and a phone case with the infamous quote ‘Okay? Okay’ on it!

It is safe to say this book took the Western world by storm after its release, but how do we feel about it now, half a decade on? Well, ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ will always have a special place in my heart, that is for certain. It was so romantic yet so comical and tragic all at the same time, it was the perfect mixture of crying for happiness and sadness. Of course, with age comes changes in our taste and preferences, so some of the romantic and comedic scenes did kind of cringe me out at times. The cheesy-ness was very real at times! But of course, this romance and humour are written with the interest of teenagers during the 2010s in mind, so there are going to be some indecrepancies as the book and readers age.

So, the final question is: would I recommend ‘The Fault in Our Stars’? Yes! This is an especially good read if you want to feel a bit nostalgic and have a blast from the past. Or, if you have never read it, it is a nice all-rounder book with a little bit of something for everyone, especially if you don’t mind cheesy romance.
